Autumn Wishlist - 2025

March 20/21 is the official fall/autumn equinox.
It marks when the sun crosses the Equator,
and a day and night are almost of equal length.
It heralds a changing of seasons.
Some cultures have been celebrating this time for centuries.
"At each equinox, the Earth’s axis stands perfectly balanced,
neither tilting toward nor away from our brilliant star."(1)
I love Autumn!

🍂The changing of the color of the leaves

🍂Milder daytime weather

🍂Cooler evenings and mornings ... a slight chill in the air

🍂Sunlight appears to become whiter and less yellow

🍂Growth in the garden starts to slow as it readies itself for sleep

🍂The birds are waking slightly later in the mornings

It's a time to express gratitude for the Earth, for all the gifts she brings.
A time to ask for abundant blessings for the winter to come.
Anciently (and still today), people would be preserving harvests, collecting seed,
storing food, and preparing the necessities of life before the cold sets in.

Some cultures celebrate with thanksgiving and others with harvest celebrations.
"The Japanese use their autumnal equinox as a time for reflection
 and visiting ancestors' graves."(2)
I love these ideas!
This weekend I wrote a Wishlist of fun, and meaningful things
to do/explore/experience this, Autumn.
I am looking forward to each one!
