The Life We Are Creating (Episode 2)

As a family, we are striving to live mindfully.
Treasuring the moments that often get lost in the
busyness of life.

These little episodes of "The Life We Are Creating"
are an effort to capture seemingly insignificant
moments.

Moments caught up in mundane and sometimes dull daily life.

Our life on this planet is a gift!
There is magic in what may appear mundane
and divinity in the dull.
God truly IS in the detail of our daily lives.
And so we want to share
 "The Life We Are Creating."

Every day, we get to be with our special-needs pooch.
We get to watch over her and care for her.
She makes us laugh and sigh.
Every single day we are rewarded with
so much love and joy from this little soul.
This is Tris.

Every day,  we tend our little garden.
A garden started with a bunch of seeds, little know-how,
and a LOT of hope and faith
that if we tend it ....it WILL grow.
These are our first cherry tomatoes!
Aren't they spectacular?

Creating is a big part of our daily lives.
We are a family of creative individuals.
I think we would go nuts if we couldn't create...something...anything!
One important lesson we have learned is that with a little thinking
out-of-the-box and a few basic supplies we can be really creative in countless ways.
Here I turned old book pages, beads from collected old jewelry and some ribbon
into angel tree ornaments.

One of the wonderful blessings of living in South Africa
is it's wide open blue skies and sunny weather.
Along with this comes blistering heat in Summer.
Here I captured a little moment in a VERY hot day. 37*C.
We cooled off under the garden hose and enjoyed a little
water play-fight!
I can still feel how refreshing it was!!!

Some of our goals as a family this year, include;
Weekly scripture study
Game nights
Cooking meals together
and sitting down to a meal together at least 5 out of 7 days a week.
We are currently studying the New Testament
and have an ongoing domino tournament running
through the month of January.
These precious moments taken and spent together
is such a blessing to our family!
We talk more, we laugh more, we listen more!
This was a moment captured on a Sunday night after a scripture
discussion and a game of Chicken Foot.

Here we cooked a meal together from scratch!
We made tzatziki, flatbreads, and Greek Lemon Garlic Chicken Salad.
Mouthwateringly yummy!
Everything tastes better when its homemade with lots of love.

We HAD to capture this moment of Tris taking her first train ride.
When a free public open day was announced at our local
Rand Society of Model (train) Engineers,
we grabbed the opportunity for a little free fun and a trip down memory lane.
The last time we visited here was 17 years ago when our kids were little!
One is NEVER too old for a model train ride!!

God is in His Heavens
and holding us carefully in the palm of His hands
as we tackle daily life here and
live the life He wants for us.

The life we are creating.
