Birthday Celebrations - Jackie Meaker"s 21st

On Saturday 16th April

a whole bunch of us gathered together

at Delta Park Environmental Center

to picnic and celebrate Jackie's 21st birthday.

Some brought salads, others meat to braai.

There were snacks and other finger eats.

Lots to drink

Some brought chairs and blankets 

and we spread out in the shade of a large tree.

Since this was a special birthday

I offered to take some pictures

to capture a portion of her day.

I had fun playing photographer.....

in this case tabletographer

for a short while.

We chatted

Jackie and her young friends

played some games and headed off in various groups and directions

and we took some cute, fun pictures in the trees.

I decided to give the pictures an old school feel

 by using an inverted colour filter

and a filmstrip border.

Delta Park is a large Johannesburg City Park

It is very well maintained and used.

Entry and use of the facilities is free to the public

and dogs on leashes are welcome.

There's an environmental center and museum.

A sensory short walk.

Biking, walking and jogging trails.

A large children's playground.

A bird park

Lawns to play on

and tons of trees to sit under.

I only managed to take a few photos close to our picnic spot

because my movement was limited.

Next time we go there I would like to really explore and enjoy all that it has to offer.

We were only able to visit for about 2 hours during her day long party and it as fun!
