Day 7, 8 and 9 of SA 🔒⬇️

I have had some really down moments over the past few days...particularly when I saw that one of our deaths in South Africa due to Covid-19 is an 80-year-old man. There are stories circulating about the strict rules at hospitals and care homes. Family member with Covid 19 are separated and are not allowed visitors because of the high infection rate. It's heartbreaking to think that people are dying without their loved ones by their side. I am really struggling with the chaos and loss this virus is causing. My heart goes out to all who are personally affected by it.

With it raining so much since Thursday, there was not much excitement going on here at the Erasmus House. The usual school, work and chores were done. The rain made us cold and lazy though...so we spent a fair amount of time being quiet, watching movies and the like.

Some highlights:

* I planted out some strawberry seedlings.

Strawberry shots planted in a basket

* I finished an excellent book: Corban Addison's The Garden of Burning Sands (another name for Africa apparently)

* Madison started building a 1500-piece puzzle
* We had a video chat with Nic's brother (Martin) in Durban and his nephew (Riaan) in Ireland.
It was so fun.
* We cozied up on my bed to watch the first session of our church's General Conference.
Truly a lovely experience.

All of us piled up on the bed watching General Conference

Miss Tris, trying to stay warm

* We enjoyed tomato soup and Dr Oetker's frozen pizza.
* I enjoyed watching Unorthodox...sad telling of a true story. It was quite eye opening.
* I started on a new book! Corban Addison's A Harvest of Thorns.
